Superior MACD
Product Description
The MACD is one of the most popular indicators in trading.
Superior MACD takes this classic indicator to a whole new level on TradingView by making it more flexible, more visual, and more useful for real-time decision making.
What makes it superior?
1. Fully customizable moving averages
Configure the fast MA, slow MA, and signal line independently. Each can be built from 10 different MA types, and each can be smoothed with 10 different smoothing methods.
2. Histogram with trend thresholds
Instead of just relying on crossovers, Superior MACD translates the histogram into a trend map. Two ATR-based thresholds (upper & lower) define bullish and bearish phases clearly.
- In an uptrend, the histogram must dip below the lower threshold to signal a reversal.
- In a downtrend, the histogram must climb above the upper threshold to switch to bullish.
3. Slowdown detection
Watch for early warnings when momentum fades. If a set number of histogram bars shrink consecutively, the indicator highlights a trend slowdown with symbols on the chart.
4. Extra clarity with markers
- Slowdowns: marked with dots
- Zero crossovers: marked with arrows
5. Powered by advanced ATR
Superior MACD uses an enhanced version of ATR for its thresholds, making it more stable and reliable on intraday charts compared with the standard ATR.
Why should you use it?
Superior MACD keeps the essence of the classic MACD but eliminates much of its ambiguity. Instead of guessing at crossover strength or manually redrawing levels, you get a structured view of trend phases, reversals, and slowdowns – all plotted automatically.
