Overview

The Stochastic oscillator is a classic tool for identifying overbought and oversold conditions, but in its raw form, it can be noisy and misleading.

Superior Stochastic is a refined version that smooths signals, reduces false triggers, and makes the oscillator more trader-friendly.

How it works

  • Its %K line is smoothed to reduce noise.
  • Its %D line (which is also a smoothing of %K) is smoothed again.
  • Traders can select from multiple MA types (SMA, EMA, WMA, etc.) for the smoothing method.
  • It highlights OB/OS zones clearly on the chart and provides reversal signals when the price reaches an extreme level.

Signal mechanism

  • A Buy signal appears when %D crosses above %K while both are in the OS zone.
  • A Sell signal appears when %D crosses below %K while both are in the OB zone.
